Thankfulness

In lieu of Thanksgiving day, here is a list of the things that I am grateful for, that I thought you could relate to:

Food: I do not know about you but I love food! It often gets me in trouble, but I love the visuals, aroma and most of all the consumption of food. I am so grateful for that wonderful experience that ultimately brings nourishment to our bodies. I will appreciate most anything you put in front of me. It is needless to say, I am looking forward to the array of home-cooked, that will be laid out for consumption on Thanksgiving day!

Color: I love all color, but in particular I love yellow. When I see a particular shade of yellow my heart does a happy dance. I am so grateful for that visual that brings so much warmth, adrenaline, and satisfaction into my heart. Thank you, Lord for Yellow.

Fabrics: When I walk into any room, I am going to notice the fabrics all around me. My dream shopping spree would be going to a noncommercial fabric store and filling up my trunk and back seat with all kinds of fabric!!!! Just like the color yellow, seeing the beautiful handiwork of a piece of fabric is like a serotonin madhouse going off in my body. I am so grateful to be able to find joy in the simple things in life.

Job: Whether you love your job or not, who isn’t grateful for a steady source of income. After being a stay at home mom for many years, I was fortunate to get my feet wet in a place that was great to reorient myself. I am fortunate now, to work in a place that I love dearly and get paid to be there!

Warm weather: To be quite honest, I am not an outdoors person, but I do love to admire its beauty. Now, I'm not saying that in any other weather that it cannot be done, but in Vachelle’s world it pretty much is the case. I am grateful for the warm weather, which allows me to better participate in the beauty, tranquility, and wonder of nature. I’m writing this as I enjoy 80+ degrees in my parents sunny south Florida home. Thank you God for the reprieve from the cold.

Family: Even if we didn’t see eye to eye on most things and I gave them grief in my teen and early adult years I am still grateful to God for the institution of family and specifically parents. Even if you had the worst relationship with your parents there is this inner desire for acceptance and support. I’m grateful for the support I’ve had over the years. From the random gold nuggets of wisdom to the Walmart grocery shopping sprees. I am grateful to have that support in life, whether near or far. Spouse: I would not like to journey through life without a good spouse. I love mine to pieces. I'm thankful to have a partner in life, who shares the same values and encourages me through perilous times and pushes me to new heights. He’s my wing-man and I am his. Thank God for a good partner. Children: I love them in many ways and for many reasons, but I’am grateful for the role they play in pulling me out of myself and teaching me to stay humble and unselfish. Children are the greatest consumers of your time that you will ever have in life, but they are also the greatest teachers of how to use that time effectively and with greater purpose and for that I am grateful.

The Body of Christ: The idea of being connected to people with a common faith is such a blessing. To be in community with others who are trying to be true to their God is so fulfilling. To be able to encourage one another to embody the righteousness of their maker is so life-giving. I love being apart of a worldwide family that professes faith in Christ and building His kingdom.

I hope this inspires you to take a look at your life and count your many blessings!
