Christmas Prayer

Since I was a child, Christmas was always my favorite time of the year. It may seem like the obvious choice because, of the presents received but, I also loved the whole festive atmosphere around it. I loved the lights, the songs, getting the tree and all the trimmings. I loved the anticipation of getting to that day.

As I have grown so has my appreciation for Christmas. No longer predominantly lured by the thought of the new and shiny. I now find myself on a journey to find the babe in the manager. The Christ child, the messiah who was foretold from days of old and the salvation he would bring. Don’t get me wrong, gifts are still very much apart of our celebration of Christmas as we participate in the joy received through the ultimate gift of Christ Jesus given to humanity so long ago. That's the thing, the older I get the less I look forward to the physical gift under the tree and more to the joy felt through the reward of the act and celebration itself. My being rejoices in the wonder of such an ordinary act as the birth of a child and the future that has been secured for all of eternity because of Him. It is a day to celebrate life, and goodness because God has sent His son and it is a marvelous thing indeed. Glory be, for God has come to dwell among men!

My Christmas prayer for all of you:

May the Lord open your eyes to the gift of His son. That the peace and assurance He brings be yours into eternity. If you are lonely, may you find comfort and companionship in His presence. If you are striving, may you find rest in His arms. If you are content, may you deepen your intimacy and share that grace with others around you. May Christ be your anchor in the storms of life and the light that lights your path. Trust that God has made a way through this ordinary act that will bring about an extraordinary future for you and I.

God bless, and have a very merry Christmas!
