2020 Christmas Letter

What a year! It is uncanny to think that 2020 represents a year of adjustments for virtually every human being on the planet, and we were no exception.

We rang in the year visiting with family in Florida. It was great celebrating our 10th anniversary at a beachfront restaurant while the kids hung out with their cousins at Legoland. That same month our offer on our current home was accepted. We originally intended to move into the house in April because we were getting work done, but then the Pandemic happened. We literally packed our apartment up in a matter of hours and moved in just before the first Safer at Home order was put into effect. With school and work going virtual we had more than enough time to nest in our new home. We planned to have a housewarming party that May, but maybe May 2021 will be more likely :)

Zion is now in 3rd grade and Israel in Kindergarten. Zion began taking piano lessons this fall. So far she seems to take to it naturally so let's see if she sticks with it.

Izzy is just Izzy. As high energy and inquisitive as ever. He is a sponge soaking up everything in sight. Hopefully that will be to his benefit in the long run.

On top of all Isaac’s obligations to our church community he kept busy this winter and spring studying and achieving his Security Plus Certification. So if you need someone to consult with on matters of cyber security he will be happy to advise you as best he can.

I had an emotional rollercoaster of a year, but I will keep things light and highlight that last month (November) I stepped down from my position as our church’s Administrative Assistant to pursue a career as a Financial Advisor for Thrivent Financial. It is a dream realized on many levels and I can’t wait to share more on that as I complete my licensing requirements.

This past Thanksgiving my little sister and cousin came to hang out with us. It was the first Thanksgiving we had in our home after 10 years of marriage! It took a pandemic to make it happen, but I hope it doesn’t take another 10 years to make the effort again. During this visit, my sister introduced us to the Broadway musical Hamilton and I’m almost ashamed to admit that we were hooked. I’m singing the songs as I write this, I can’t stop even if I tried….

We are looking forward to our first Christmas in our new house. The kids hang around the tree everyday after school opening the next Advent bag that their Sunday school teacher was so gracious to provide to all the Sunday school families. We have had many ups this season as well as some not mentioned lows, but altogether we are grateful to be together reflecting on the many life lessons and blessings that have come our way this crazy year. Through it all, one thing has remained the same, God the Father, Son & Holy Spirit. As we reflect on the wins and the losses of this year, let us do so with the perspective that God walks with us through it all and showers us with His grace to love and grow and become better human beings than we entered this year being. God Bless you all and much love and peace to your souls.
